Cassette Thang Privacy Policy

Cassette Thang is a Mac music controller and customizable cassette display. This policy describes the current app’s use of information. It does not describe Apple’s separate operation of Apple Music, the Mac App Store, or macOS.
Information used on your Mac
Cassette Thang processes the following information locally to provide its features:
- Music information: song titles, artists, albums, artwork, playlist contents, favorite status, playback position, and other track details. These let you browse your library, control playback, and display the song that is playing.
- Your preferences: cassette appearance, saved looks, local pins, recent songs, playback queue, window position, and related settings. These let the app restore your choices when it opens.
- Imported files: images and animations you choose for shell artwork or stickers. The app saves local copies so they remain available if you move the original files.
- Audio for visual effects: when you enable audio-reactive features and grant macOS permission, the app processes Music’s audio in memory to animate the display. It does not save or upload that audio.
The current app does not send these local files, audio, listening history, or preferences to the publisher. It does not contain advertising, third-party analytics, or tracking services, and does not require a Cassette Thang account.
Website analytics
This website uses Google Analytics to understand visits to its pages. Google Analytics may use first-party cookies and collect information about page visits, browser and device details, and approximate location. This applies to the website, not to the Cassette Thang Mac app.
Music access and Apple services
Cassette Thang asks macOS for permission to control the Music app. When connected, it can read library information and send playback commands. If you add or remove a song favorite, it asks Music to make that change. Apple may synchronize changes through your Apple account according to your Music settings.
Music playback and Apple account services are provided by Apple. Cassette Thang does not receive your Apple account password or payment-card details. Apple’s handling of information is explained in Apple’s privacy policy.
In-app purchases
Creative Unlock purchases and restoration are handled by Apple through the App Store. Cassette Thang reads Apple-verified purchase information on your Mac to determine whether paid features are available. The app does not upload this transaction information to Not a Bot Games or operate a purchase-validation server. Apple processes payments; we do not receive your payment-card details through the app.
Permissions and your choices
You can disconnect from Music in Cassette Thang’s preferences. You can turn off audio-reactive features independently; audio capture is not needed for ordinary playback controls or static customization.
You can revoke Music-control permission in macOS System Settings under Privacy & Security → Automation. Audio-capture permission can be revoked under Screen & System Audio Recording, or the corresponding recording category on your macOS version. Revoking permission stops the associated feature from accessing that resource; it does not erase information already saved locally.
File imports use the system file picker or files you intentionally drop into the app. Cassette Thang does not request unrestricted access to your photo library.
Storage, retention, and removal
Settings, recent-song information, pins, queued items, saved looks, and imported files are stored on your Mac. They remain until replaced or removed. You can remove pins, queue entries, saved looks, and sticker placements using the available app controls.
Removing a sticker placement or replacing artwork does not necessarily delete its saved image file. The app may retain imported copies, including files associated with earlier choices. Disconnecting from Music also leaves local preferences and saved information intact.
To remove all Cassette Thang data, quit the app and remove its local preferences and application-support data. Removing the app alone may leave this data behind. Contact support@notabotgames.com for instructions appropriate to your installed version. This removes Cassette Thang’s local data, not your Apple Music library or favorite changes already made in Music.
Your Mac’s backup software may retain earlier copies according to its settings. Cassette Thang does not operate a separate cloud backup of your local app data.
Diagnostics and contacting us
The app writes limited audio-startup diagnostics to the local macOS logging system, such as tap startup, recovery attempts, and whether a signal arrived. These diagnostic entries do not contain recorded audio or song details. macOS controls retention of its system logs.
Support email at support@notabotgames.com is hosted by Bluehost. If you contact us, we receive the message and any information you choose to include, such as your email address, screenshots, or diagnostic files. Do not include passwords or payment details. We use support correspondence to respond to your request. We retain support emails and the information they contain for 12 months, then delete them.
Policy changes
We will update this policy when the app’s information practices change and revise the effective date above. Changes such as introducing purchases, online services, or analytics will be reviewed before release so this policy reflects the version available to you.
